Steps to Becoming a First Aid Responder

Accidents and emergencies can happen to anyone and at any time of the day, some of which would require immediate medical attention. So, if you want to do more than just offer assistance, then you should become a first aid responder. Before you can become one, however, you would have to go through relevant training. As it happens, there are several courses available for you such as the following:

Primary Care (CPR) – This training teaches you how to respond to critical situations properly and efficiently. Some skills that you will be able to learn are scene safety assessment, precautions against communicable disease, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, bleeding management, and many others.

Secondary Care (First Aid) – Through this, you will learn how to assess injury and illness. You will also know the right techniques for bandaging and splinting fractures or dislocations. What makes this course vital is that you will be able to provide immediate medical care, saving someone from further injuries, health threats, or complications.

Care for Children – In this course, you will be able to respond to crisis that involves injured or ill little ones. You will be taught how to administer CPR, first aid, and make use of the AED (Automated External Defibrillator).

Now, which training should you select? The choice is entirely up to you, but first aid would be the best option since it is applicable to all the courses listed above. Once you pass, then you can decide on becoming a certified first responder.
