ASSIST First Aid is complying with Australian Governing Authorities regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. Our company has implemented our own safety precautions by limiting our class size and CPR manikin use, sterilisation before and after each class, and access to antibacterial hand gel. Upon arrival, all students will be asked if they have travelled in the last 14 days and ask to practice regular hand sanitation. If you are feeling unwell please reschedule your booking. PUAEME004 Provide Emergency Care for Suspected Spinal Injury

PRICE: $140

Provide Emergency Care for Suspected Spinal Injury covers the competency required to minimise further injury to a casualty when applying first aid and waiting for emergency medical aid. The application of this unit in the workplace covers recognition and management of suspected spinal injuries while waiting for emergency medical aid. The unit is typically relevant for personnel from emergency services and/or volunteer organisations or organisations which provide a first aid service in an environment where there is a risk of spinal injuries.

Prerequisites: Provide Advanced First Aid, HLTAID006, pre-requite for this course.
Duration: 5 hours face to face training.
Validity: Legislative approval valid for 1 year from completion date.
Course contents:
  • Identify suspected spinal injury
  • Immobilise cervical spine
  • Evaluate need to move casualty
  • Prepare casualty for transport
  • Transport and monitor casualty
  • Perform casualty handover
