Sports Trainer Level 1 introduces students to the principles of sports medicine and provides the basic knowledge and skills required by sports trainers. It is ideal for sporting clubs to train members so they can help their player be safer and can be sports trainers / first aid responders at training, games or matches. It is also great for teachers‚ coaches, administrators and parents or anyone involved in club or school sports.
Course Requirements:
This course is open to everyone (there are no requirements).
First Aid & CPR are a part of this course. Learners who hold a current HLTAID011 Provide First Aid can apply for a credit transfer.
USI: All students undertaking nationally recognised training courses delivered by a registered training organisation must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). Your USI is created by the Government and unique to you. To create your USI, find your number (if you cannot remember it), or learn more, visit www.usi.gov.au

Who is this Course For:
- Anyone wanting to be a Sports Trainer or provide first aid for sports. This includes both paid and volunteer roles.
- People dealing with club or school sports; coaches, club members, teaches, administrators, first aiders and parents.
- Parents keen to help their kids perform at their best by avoiding or correctly managing injuries.
Course Outcomes:
- Students who successfully complete training will be awarded a nationally recognised statement of attainment for: SISSS00118 Sports Trainer Level 1, including units HLTAID011 Provide First Aid, SISSSCO015 & SISSSPT001
- HLTAID011 Provide First Aid certificate is valid for 3 years from completion date.
- The 3 units included in Sports Trainer Level 1 can be used to gain credit towards Sports Coaching Certificate III (SIS30521) and IV (SIS40321). Sports Coaching Certificate III and IV are part of the SIS Sport, Fitness and Recreation Training package.
- Legal Note: Specific licensing /regulatory requirements relating to this competency, including requirements for refresher training should be obtained from the relevant national/state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authorities.
Course Delivery:
Duration: Self paced online learning (estimated 2 hours), plus 1 day in person training (9am until 5pm).
Delivery Style: Blended - online and face to face.

- Practical Demonstrations: Simulated scenarios and/or role playing
- Knowledge Assessment by trainer during the course
