SISSS00118 Sports Trainer Level 1 - Face to Face

Sports Trainer Level 1 introduces students to the basic principles of sports medicine and provides the basic knowledge and skills required by sports trainers. It is ideal for sporting clubs to train members so they can be first aid responders at their games or matches. It is also great  for teachers, coaches, administrators and parents or anyone involved in club sports or school sports.

Achievement of these units provides credit towards qualifications in sport in the SIS Sport, Fitness and Recreation Training Package.


Course Requirements:

Course Prerequisites: Must have current First Aid and CPR certificates. If you don't have current First Aid / CPR certificates let us know as we can deliver this training before the course.
(First Aid / CPR course codes: HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation / HLTAID011 Provide First Aid).
USI: All students undertaking nationally recognised training courses delivered by a registered training organisation must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). Who is this Course For:

This skill set is for individuals wishing to work as a sport trainer. This includes individuals working and volunteering in sports clubs and organisations. 


Course Outcomes:

  • Students who successfully complete this nationally recognised training will be awarded the statement of attainment for: SISSS00118 Sports Trainer Level 1, including units SISSSCO015 & SISSSPT001
  • Certificate is valid for 3 years from completion date.
  • Legal Note: Specific licensing /regulatory requirements relating to this competency, including requirements for refresher training should be obtained from the relevant national/state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authorities.

Course Delivery:

Duration: 1 day (9am until 5pm)
Delivery Style: Face to face in our training centre (this course can also be delivered onsite for groups of 5 )
Location: Buddina training centre or onsite on the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane or the Gold Coast

  • Practical Demonstrations: Simulated scenarios and/or role playing
  • Knowledge Assessment by trainer during the course
  • Project (Sports Trainer Workbook)
