Your Group or Organisation Could Get Free Mental Health First Aid Training — But You Need to Act Fast
If you’ve been thinking about getting your team trained in Mental Health First Aid, now is the time. The Queensland Government is currently funding the full cost of Mental Health First Aid training for Queensland organisations — and applications close 17 July 2026.
Here’s everything you need to know.
What Is the Grant?
As part of Queensland Mental Health Week 2026, the Queensland Mental Health Commission has made $150,000 available to fund Mental Health First Aid training across the state. The grants are administered by the Queensland Alliance for Mental Health and are open to individuals and organisations across all sectors — public, private, not-for-profit and education.
The grant covers the exact cost of training as quoted by your chosen accredited provider. There’s no cap on what you can apply for — whatever the training costs, that’s what the grant covers.
We deliver Mental Health First Aid for groups of 10 to 24, with flexible options to suit your team: face-to-face at our Warana training centre, onsite at your club or workplace, blended learning, or fully online. Not on the Sunshine Coast? No problem — we offer online training, or we can come to you anywhere in Queensland.
Funds are allocated on a first-in, first-served basis, so the sooner you apply, the better.
Who Can Apply?
Almost anyone based in Queensland or delivering training in Queensland can apply. That includes businesses, community organisations, schools, government agencies and not-for-profits. You can submit one application per organisation, and applications from priority population groups will be given preference where applications are received at the same time.
What Is Mental Health First Aid Training?
Mental Health First Aid gives people the knowledge, confidence and practical skills to recognise and respond when someone is experiencing a mental health problem or crisis. Just as physical first aid prepares us to respond to a physical emergency, Mental Health First Aid prepares us to offer initial support to someone who is struggling — until they can access professional help.
It’s evidence-based, practical and genuinely life-changing for those who complete it. Workplaces and community organisations that invest in Mental Health First Aid training often see a meaningful shift in how people talk about and respond to mental health — and that matters.
How Do I Apply?
To apply, you’ll need to submit an application through the Queensland Mental Health Week 2026 grants portal. Your application will need to include a quote from an accredited Mental Health First Aid training provider confirming the cost of your training.
That’s where we can help. Our accredited Mental Health First Aid instructor, Cortney is a Principal Master trainer with four years of experience delivering this training, is an eligible provider under this program. We can get a quote to you quickly so you have everything you need to submit your application in time.
