Did you know there are new codes for a range of First Aid courses?
The body who governs Vocational and Education Training (VET) in Australia regularly reviews the courses and units to ensure they are up to date with the latest information, practices and industries requirements.
Recently there was a review of the CPR and First Aid units and some of them have been updated and given new codes.
Assist First Aid is in the process of transitioning from the old to the new codes. This post has the new codes and how the First Aid course code updates effect you.

I did the old First Aid Course, is my Certificate still valid?
Yes. First Aid Certificates for training received before the cut off date (which is end of September) remain valid until the expiry date listed on them, regardless of which training you undertook.
You will not need to do the course again until your certificate expired.
My work says I need to do the old courseβ¦
No problem. There is a cross over period where we are still able to teach the superseded units. We can then issue you a certificate with the superseded code on it. This grace period runs until 30 September 2021. If this applies to you get in touch so we can work out how to support you.
When will you teach the new units?
We already are!
We are currently phasing in the new units. All of our trainers in Brisbane, on the Gold Coast and on the Sunshine Coast (including at our Buddina training centre) are able to deliver the new or the old training courses.
Groups are also able to book the new first aid units to ensure they are completing the most current First Aid course available.
If you need to do a specific course (the old or the new course) call or email us so we can discuss your needs.
Who conducts the review and why?
Itβs important that training is regular updated with the latest knowledge, remains relevant and is the highest quality possible. To ensure this, a team made up of industry experts and stakeholders regularly review Nationally Accredited Courses and update them where required.
