The marathon and triathlon season is now well underway! It was a beautiful spring weekend for athletes from across the globe to take part in the Ironman 70.3 on the Sunshine Coast. With a 1.9km swim along Mooloolaba’s beautiful beach starting and finishing at Loo With a View. They layout was similar to that at the World Championship. Then the athletes continue on a 90km cycle leg from Beach Terrace onto the Sunshine Motorway, through Alex Hill along the beach front to Maroochydore and back to Mooloolaba for a second lap. After a glorious ride these amazing athletes go on a 221.1 km run over Alexandra Headland through Cotton Tree and back to Mooloolaba. All while taking in the all the gorgeous scenery the Sunshine Coast has to offer along the way.
Our medics, along with QAS were strategically placed along the course to assist athletes and spectators should they be in need. ASSIST Medics also had a fully staffed medical tent located in Mooloolaba with doctors, nurses, and paramedics to triage and treat patients quickly and efficiently. ASSIST Medics will be seen working up and down South East Queensland over the coming months with many events booked in through the end of year.
